Here are fishing rebels suggestions to fish in the Puerto Vallarta area, along with the best prices

1. The Puerto Vallarta Bay Area (North or South)

This is where it all begins, folks! Our stunning bay is amazing all year round.

  • Summertime Fishing: When the water reaches 80∘F, the bay comes alive! We have plenty of small game fish—ideal for a four-hour family trip or if you prefer not to spend the whole day under the sun. Be on the lookout; you'll likely spot manta rays, large sea turtles, and numerous dolphins on most outings. And when the bait is abundant, there's always a chance to catch a delicious mahi-mahi / dorado or even an early sailfish making its way into the bay. We've caught them on these shorter trips!

  • Wintertime Fishing: The conditions may change slightly, but the excitement remains high! We catch plenty of Spanish mackerel and the incredibly tasty Bonita. The bay also boasts amazing snorkeling spots and beautiful beaches, which is why we offer half-day fishing/snorkeling trips—just inquire!

2. El Banco

At the very top of our list for a reason! If you're seeking large marlin and big tuna, this is the place to be.

  • Year-Round Action: Located on a fault line with deep canyons, this spot is teeming with fish all year. It's not unusual to catch several big tuna and marlin in just one day.

  • Summer Fishing: Get ready to use the kite or helium balloons with those large baits! These trips last 10 to 12 hours or more, but the thrill is unmatched.

  • Winter Fishing: Expect to encounter Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, and plenty of Dorado action. The Bank is an underwater seamount rising from thousands of feet to 40 feet, attracting bait and fish year-round. High-speed lures, skipping bait, and massive bass drifting are the keys here.

3. The Maria Islands

World class fishing grounds Puerto Vallarta; it’s one of the Top 10 places to fish in the world.

  • Year-Round Trophy Spot: If you get a chance to do one of our overnight  trips out here, don’t hesitate.

Action: We encounter large schools of tuna, as well as groups of Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi-Mahi, and Wahoo. It's also an excellent location for Amberjack and impressively large Fargo (grouper). The warm current ensures that pelagic fish remain here all year. If you're seeking non-stop action, excitement, and massive fish, this is the perfect trip for you and your friends.

4. El Corbetena

Located about 35 miles offshore, Corbetena is where we get into the serious, all-day fishing.

  • Summertime Fishing: With water temperatures sometimes above 80∘F, it’s perfect for a 10-to-12-hour deep-sea trip. This is the spot to load up the tuna tubes with to lb baits and troll them for huge Marlin and huge Tunas. You’ll also still catch some Amberjack out here.

  • Wintertime Fishing: We target Wahoo, Striped Marlin, and Mahi-Mahi, along with an abundance of other small game. The dark blue water is usually around 75∘F and drops from a few thousand feet up to 40-50 feet, holding bait around the rocks and reef.

5. El Faro

El Faro offers an excellent 10-hour excursion and ranks among our top five fishing destinations. It resembles Cabo San Lucas due to the north-to-south current, attracting a variety of pelagic fish.

  • Summertime Fishing: The warmer waters are ideal for catching Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi-Mahi, and large Snappers. When warm waters coincide with a full moon, this spot is a favorite hangout for sailfish. It's a prime location for landing a trophy fish.

  • Wintertime Fishing: This season offers great opportunities to catch Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi-Mahi, and Spanish Mackerel. We particularly enjoy fishing here a few days before or after the full moon. Additionally, we often venture to Yelapa and troll all the way out, catching fish and witnessing some of Mexico's most stunning beaches.

6. El Morro

7. Punta Mita

Although Punta Mita's waters aren't always categorized as 'deep offshore,' they serve as an excellent transition zone. Close to shore, you'll find an abundance of rooster fish, while mahi-mahi can be caught slightly farther out. This area is ideal for a six to eight-hour fishing trip, providing stunning views and consistent activity, particularly when bait schools are present.

8. Islas Marietas National Park

Though a protected area for the islands themselves, the waters just outside the reserve boundaries are great for catching Jack Crevalle and other small game. It’s also an excellent choice for a combo trip—half fishing, half sightseeing, and snorkeling!

9. Los Arcos Marine Park (Nearshore Fishing & Sightseeing)

Another beautiful spot in the bay! While fishing is generally done just outside the immediate p

This area is a treasure trove for small baitfish, which often attracts smaller Bonita and Skipjack Tuna. These are great fun to catch with light tackle and ideal for four-hour trips. Plus, you're almost certain to spot dolphins!

10. Cabo Corrientes

This is the point marking the southern boundary of Banderas Bay! The currents here make it a reliable location for snapper and occasionally larger jack crevalle near the rocks. When offshore activity is high, the deeper waters just beyond the cape can attract sailfish as they move in and out of the bay. It's an excellent spot for a six to eight-hour trip.
